It's always good to look around a bit before you start registering domain names left right and centre.
There are many parties where you can register domain names for little money but do you really need all that many?

Your domain name is a common word

In this case, we advise you to register beside the NL domain also the EU and COM variations. You have probably chosen your domain name as a marketing tool or because it's a product that you're promoting.

Your company name is a common word

Register the following variations: NL, COM, EU, BE, CO.UK, NET and ORG. For the simple reason that
this will take the wind out of the sails of your competitors, they just might want to hitch a ride on your marketing activities by simply registering a vacant domain name extension. Yours!

Your company name is a unique word

In this case it's almost impossible for third parties to register a domain extension as this is legally objectionable. There are enough legal means available to prevent this from happening.
As far as EU domain extensions are concerned however, this is not the case. If someone in Greece highjacks your name as a EU domain, you'll have to take matters up in a Greek court, can you
see yourself negotiating with a Greek lawyer?
So always, register your company name as an EU domain.
